Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things a woman can do. It is also healthier for you and baby.

At first, some women may find it hard to breastfeed, but don’t give up. Sometimes, just a small change to your breastfeeding routine can make things better. If the problem has to do with the shape of your nipples, your doctor or nurse-midwife can suggest ways to make breastfeeding easier.

Breastfeeding is a special gift only you can give your baby.
• Breastfeed your baby as soon after birth as possible. It helps bring in your milk and helps you bond with baby.
• Drink a large glass of water, juice, or milk every time you breastfeed.
• Your baby does not need any formula or water. Your breastmilk is the perfect food.
• A new baby needs to be fed at least every 2 to 3 hours both day and night. Some babies need to be fed even more.

WARNING: Do not breastfeed if you are drinking alcohol or using any kind of drugs! Call MothersCare to find someone who can help you stop!
